Rules and Regulations On Forklift Safety Certification

The answer is simple – yes.
Let’s take a look at the rules and regulations that could affect you as a forklift operator working on job sites throughout the Lower Mainland.
- Federal
- State/Provincial – which must meet and exceed federal regulations.
- In-company/site policies – which must meet federal and provincial regulation. In-company/site policies may exceed both federal and provincial.
Keep in mind:
- The operator is directly responsible for the safe operation of the machine at all times.
- The operator is required to complete a pre-use inspection and report any problems immediately.
- The supervisor is responsible for ensuring that the pre-use inspection is conducted
- The employer is required to maintain the machine in a safe operating condition.
- The employer is required to purchase machines that conform to ANSI/ITSDF safety standards.
- The employer shall ensure that each operator is competent to operate the forklift safely, as demonstrated by the successful completion of a lift truck training coarse that includes theory instruction and practical, hand on evaluation.

Yes, you can. Our training is built for beginners —we don’t expect you to know anything before you arrive. What happens if someone fails the test?
If a participant doesn’t pass on the first try, it’s not the end of the road. Once they’re ready, we’ll schedule a free re-evaluation. Our priority is to make sure every operator is confident, competent, and safe—not to rush anyone through the process. Q: What happens if my forklift operator certification expires?
If your certification expires, you must undergo recertification to continue operating forklifts legally. This usually involves a refresher course and a practical exam.
Q: I was received training through my last employer and there company name is on the documentation, is my forklift certification transferable to another company/employer?
The answer unfortunately is no, it is not. When the training is conducted onsite and under a specific employers name the certification is only valid for that company, it is not transferable.
